Standing Women May
2007 - We stood silently in South Park on Mother's Day, 2007
with the women
of Ohio and the women of the world, to STAND to save the
world. Standing Women asked us all, women, men, and children,
to:
Stand with them for a better world;
Stand with them for our world's children and grandchildren
and for the seven generations beyond...
We came together simply on that beautiful day ...for a united purpose and
hope. Visit standingwomen.org >> and
learn how this event was inspired by the book, "The Great Silent Grandmother."

LunaFest March
2007 - LUNAFEST! Presented
by 100 Good Women and Women
Speak ... In March 2007, we hosted two showings of the LUNAFEST
Film Festival at Liberty Hall. LUNAFEST brings films by, for,
and about women. The films were inspiring, emotional, fun, touching,
and informative. They
made us cry, laugh, think and dream. LUNAFEST 2007
takes you from Plum
Flower in 1948 China dealing with infanticide to Mann
Ke ManJeere's music video of a Muslim woman surviving domestic
violence. You
meet
Kylie Goldstein, an
adopted All-American 6-year old, Talua in
Dear Talula on her journey
through breast cancer, and a concerned bug-eyed cow
in Agricultural
Report. Most importantly, One Hundred Good
Women and LUNAFEST were able to make
substantial contributions to our event beneficiares: the
Breast Cancer Fund (BCF), Healing Through the Arts Project/Lawrence
Art Center, GaDuGi SafeCenter, and The University of Kansas-Women
in the Department of Theatre and Film. We had great community support
for this event. Thanks
to all of our wonderful sponsors and a special thanks to Liberty
Hall and the University Theatre/Department of Theatre and Film.
Our plans are to make this an annual One Hundred Good Women event.
Dessert for Eight Spring
2006 & 2007 - Bringing women of different generations together
for an evening of conversation and dessert. Dessert is sponsored
by different hostesses at various locations for parties of eight. This
event was spawned from our participation with the Respect
Among the Ages event. The
goal is to share experiences as women and build stronger communication
between our generations. Groups are created to ensure a broad range
of ages. Hostesses start out the evening with topics of conversation
to get the ball rolling. A follow-up Dessert for just the Hostesses
brings the spirit of all the groups together for discussion and
to share thoughts for next year's round of Desserts for Eight.
We hope to continue this event annually.
Women Build... Respect
Among the Ages for the Ages. March, 2006 - Sponsored by

the community. This Women's History Month event was a celebration
reception in honor of "Women Holding Up our World" and to explore
and promote inter-generational camaraderie. March

Care Services; and the Women of Iraq (V-Day Worldwide Campaign
for 2005). February
20 and 21, 2005, Liberty Hall. The 2005 production also included
a dinner theatre performance to benefit The Fairy Godmother Fund.
In 2004, our first
production of The
Vagina Monologues was presented with proceeds
distributed to the GaDuGi SafeCenter/RVSS;
Women's Transitional Care Services; and the Missing and Murdered
Women of Juarez (V-Day Worldwide Campaign for 2005). March 8th,
2004, Liberty Hall.
Every year V-Day spotlights a particular group of women experiencing
violence in our world with the goal of raising awareness and funds
to put an end to the violence. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes
creative events to increase awareness, raise funds and revitalize
the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations to bring about
world-wide attention for the fight to stop violence against women
and girls. Through these V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and
college students produce annual benefit performances of "The Vagina
Monlogues," by Eve Ensler. In 2003, over 1,000 V-Day benefit
events were presented, educating millions about the reality of
this violence and raising $4 million dollars. Please visit vday.org.
There is still much to learn and much to do to STOP
THE VIOLENCE.

Awakening
Compassion --,
an evening with Molly Young
Brown,
author of Growing Whole and Coming Back to
Life.
"Awakening Compassion" explored how our reactions, distress and conflict
often produce fear and anger. Young Brown looked at ways people rise
above these common, often destructive, emotions to respond to tough times in
a constructive way.
